A 500g bag of top quality Ritchies Dried Sloes.

Ritchies Dried Sloes can be used as an alternative ingredient to fresh sloes in Sloe Gin. You only need half the amount. So, if your recipe calls for 1kg fresh sloes, you will only need 500g dried sloes.

Once rehydrated your sloes can be used as fresh.

Weight: approximately 500g.

How do you make Sloe Gin?

Making Sloe Gin is simple. In short: place your rehydrated sloes in a jar with sugar, top up with gin, shake. Repeat for ages. Leave for as long as you can bear it. It's worth the wait.

You'll find a rather more in-depth Sloe Gin recipe on the Craft Gin Website using dried sloes (or see our Sloe Gin recipe for using fresh sloes).

How do you rehydrate Dried Sloes?

You rehydrate sloes by soaking them for a few hours in warm water. No, not gin. Not only because this will make your sloe gin very expensive (that's a lot of gin), but you could inadvertently kill the enzymes in the sloe skins which react with the sugar to make your sloe gin. So stick to the warm water.
